Detailing the scheme, a Department for Infrastructure (DfI) spokesperson said: “The works, which extend for a distance of approximately 0.51 kilometres from Monkstown Avenue to Cherrylands, will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the road and the upgrading of approximately 1km of existing footway will greatly enhance provision for pedestrians.
“To facilitate the works, it will be necessary to operate lane closures with traffic control in place starting at 7am on February 15 and running daily until 6pm on Friday, April 16.

Hide Ad“Local access for residents and emergency services will be maintained at all times.”
The spokesperson added: “The Department has carefully planned these road works and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise inconvenience to the public.
“During the works some delays should be expected. Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey and to follow the alternative routes which will be clearly signed on the approaches to the closure.
“Completion of the work by April 16 is dependent on favourable weather conditions. The Department will keep the public informed of any change.

Meanwhile, the Newtownabbey Times reported last month that a section of Ballycraigy Road in Newtownabbey is closed for works until February 14.
